If you think that your writing style is not up to the mark to publish a book, you are not alone. In fact, it is one of the most common reasons why this world has been deprived of so many great stories and memorable poetry.

Just because you do not know how to write to stand out in this competitive world does not mean that publishing a book is an impossible mission. Once you set on the journey and follow the right tips, one thing will get easier after another.

Here are some of the best tips for someone who is unsure about their writing skills but wants to publish a book.

    1. Brainstorm Some Ideas

One of the biggest reasons why you may be feeling overwhelmed is because there may be so many ideas in your mind all at once. Having too much on your brain can make you feel as lost as nothing, having anything in mind at all.

Before you pick your pen and paper, the best thing you can do for yourself is brainstorm some ideas. Whether you brainstorm by yourself or with other friends interested in literature, this practice can help you refine your ideas and see your vision clearly. This way, you will always know what you are aiming toward.

    1. Create an Outline

Once the ideas are refined in your head, you may get the sudden urge to grab a pen and paper and start transferring your brilliant ideas to paper. While this urge can be strong, you must resist it. There is one important thing left to do.

Before you start writing the first draft of your manuscript, take your time to create a detailed outline for your work. An outline can act as your guide on your writing journey. Wherever you feel lost, you can refer to your outline and get back on track again.

    1. Hire a Ghostwriter

If you are in New York, consider yourself lucky. You can hire a ghostwriter in New York once your outline is created, or even before that. A ghostwriter is a professional who can undertake the arduous task of writing off of your hands so that you do not have to feel pressured about something you are not good at.

After browsing through your options for an ideal ghostwriter, you can choose the one who matches your tone, carries your essence in your work, and is available to meet your deadlines.

Once you have an experienced and reliable ghostwriter by your side, you can focus on another important aspect of publishing your book, such as marketing or looking into the self-publishing process.

    1. Write What You Love

If you choose to undertake the writing journey by yourself along with all its complexities, the best thing you can do to make this journey easier for yourself is to write about something you love. This is especially important if you are publishing your first book.

If you are not confident about your writing skills and choose a tricky topic on top of that, you will likely get overwhelmed and leave your writing mid-way. Therefore, it is a better idea to make things as easy as possible for you in the beginning.

    1. Look into Alternative Ways

If you feel that writing as a task exhausts you, there is no reason for you to drag yourself to complete the task. Instead, you can get a bit creative with your approach and look into alternative ways of getting the job done.

For example, if you do not want to feel tied to your keyboard, you can record your ideas in a recorder. From there on, you can hire someone to transcribe your ideas. After that, you can let your editor help you improve your manuscript even further and prepare it for publishing.

    1. Prepare a Support System

Writing and publishing a book are daunting tasks, whether you do it yourself or let someone else take care of it. In such circumstances, you need a strong support system by your side to encourage you to achieve your goals.

In addition to having your friends and family members by your side, you also need to have professionals you can count on to help you publish your book successfully. Professionals such as copy editors, writing coaches, proofreaders, and cover designers hold the right skills to boost your book’s potential.

A team of professionals can push you to explore your full potential while your loved ones can keep your morale high. Together, your support system will help you stay committed till the very end.

    1. Avoid Rushing

Once you start writing your manuscript, you will want to see it available online and in stores as soon as possible. This urge can be strong and you may feel like rushing the process. However, you cannot compromise on the quality of your book to get it out there sooner.

You should give your book enough time to write, revise, and edit it. Rushing the process may ensure that your book reaches the audience faster, but there will be no guarantees when it comes to quality.

As a novice writer, it is crucial for you to remember that becoming a part of the competition late is better than being thrown out of the competition entirely. Hence, it is a better idea to keep pace while writing and publishing your first book.

    1. Look at the Bigger Picture

Many novice writers aim to achieve more by publishing a book than by making money and gaining recognition. They may want to be remembered for their work or share their ideas with like-minded people out there.

While writing your book, there will be times when you will feel extremely exhausted and burnt out. In such times, the bigger picture may be the only motivating factor for you.

If you have a bigger reason behind publishing your book, you will also be able to market it with a unique approach. This unique point can become the reason for your work to stand out among its competitors.
